Baby It’s Cold Inside – Diet Day 68

by on Mar.20, 2012, under Family

One constant throughout our marriage has been my wife Trina’s continual complaints about being cold. It doesn’t seem to matter what the ambient temperature is, it is not nearly warm enough for her. The reason for her being cold is likely the fact that the woman has little or no body fat to insulate her. She weighs within a few pounds of when she was in high school and by within a few I think she is actually less now than she was then.

I remember when we were thinking about moving away from Idaho and I asked her if she had any preferences. He response was, “anywhere warm”. I suggested Arizona but that it got very hot there. She suggested that there was nowhere outside the surface of the sun that would be too warm. I took that challenge and to her word she hasn’t complained even when summer temperatures reach 120 degrees.

There Are Diet Side Effects? – Diet Day 19

by on Jan.31, 2012, under Family

Before starting this diet program I was given homework that included reading a chapter, cleaning out the kitchen and pantry, and taking a pre-test to assess how well or how poorly my decisions have been. The test was a disaster where I actually scored negative points.

The pantry and kitchen cleaning was likewise not good. I found junk food and candy stashed in the corners and you know you just can’t let that stuff go to waste so I “took care of it”. That may be the reason why I actually started the diet three pounds heavier than I expected.

What Happened to Global Warming?

by on Dec.05, 2009, under Miscellaneous

For the past several years all we have heard was that man was ruining the environment and that the planet was on the verge of revolt. Terms such as “global warming” and “carbon footprint” were bantered about each being used to describe the impending doom we are about to face.

Scientists throughout the world lamented of melting polar ice caps and large holes in the ozone layer. We were told again and again that if things did not quickly do an about face we could face extinction much like the dinosaurs eons ago.

What is Up with this Weather?

by on Jun.11, 2008, under Family

Like most people on the planet I am concerned with global warming. I am also concerned about the level of pollution and waste that is accumulating on the planet. Clearly weather changes are afoot and things are different than they have been in the past. I am not yet ready to drink the Kool-Aid that is being served by the environmental groups. I have not been shown a significant amount of scientific data that would lead me to conclude that man is the one responsible for these changes. I am not naive enough to believe may is blameless I just think that there are more factors at play here than the generalizations that have been given by the media. I do think we are too wasteful and do not take into consideration the finite number of resources this planet has. But I also think that we don’t know enough about the weather patterns over the course of the life of this planet to know whether we are seeing a change due to man-made problems or if this is a normal occurrence that happens with some sort of regularity through the millions of years this planet has been around.
